NINTENDO ANYONE?

Chapter 7

Our relationship over the next two years was anything put perfect, but we managed to stay together over the distance. I went back to school right away to help keep my mind off Nick being away so much.

Despite being miserable because we weren’t together, I got straight A’s and graduated my two years of college with honors. Nick surprised me by getting a couple of days away from the group to come to the ceremony.

After that I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I sat around the house for a week and then Nick helped me decide. I had been moping around all day, missing Nick and wondering what I was gonna do with my life, when Nick called.

“Hey Kie, how’s it going?” Nick asked.

“Nick. It’s so good to hear your voice. Where are you?”

“We are in Kansas right now. We’ve got a couple of hours before the show. I wanted to hear your voice.” He said

We went back and forth for a bit. I knew that Nick was worried about me, everyone was. I was stuck with the direction my life was going in.

“Why don’t you join me on tour for awhile?” Nick suggested.

I had occasionally flown out to see Nick on weekends or holidays, but had never spent more than few days on the road.

“For how long?” I asked a little intrigued.

“Well, there’s six weeks of this tour left, why not for that six weeks and then you can come stay with me in Florida for a bit.” Nick explained.

“Seriously?” I couldn’t believe he was suggesting this. It would mean being together constantly. We still had not made love for the first time, even though we had been together for over two years. Everyone wanted to know what we were waiting for. What we were waiting for was a time when we were together for more than a few days at a time.

Tara and Michelle were still dating Kevin and Howie and both couples were serious. Tara was even thinking that Kevin was going to propose one day soon.

“Sure, I’ll join you. Spending time with you is the only incentive I need.” I laughed.

The next few days were extremely busy for me. I was constantly on the phone with Nick making arrangements and being sure he really wanted me to come. I was leaving in four days, catching up with the guys in Minnesota.

I didn’t think the day would get here. I was so excited to finally be spending quality time with Nick. Tara and Michelle had convinced me to be prepared, anything could happen.

They took me shopping at Victoria Secrets and helped me to pick out a teddy that would knock Nick’s socks off. It took a little hunting, but we finally found the perfect one. It was dark blue with light purple stars on it, small spaghetti straps held it up. When we got back to my place I modeled it and realized just how perfect it was.

Tara and Michelle were also going to finish off the tour with Kevin and Howie. It looked as though we were all going to be one big happy family when we got back to Florida. They were joining the tour a couple of days after me, they had to finish their jobs before they could take off.

I caught my plane to Minnesota at nine o’clock my time. It was a direct flight so I would be arriving at two in the afternoon. I spent my time listening to the guys newest CD, Who Do You Love, on the way. I had to admit I was a little nervous. I don’t know how I knew it, but I felt that this trip was a big step for Nick and me.

As the attendant came over the speaker and told us to prepare for the descent, I could feel the butterflies in my stomach. Nick had told me that he would meet me at the airport. It seemed as though we hadn’t seen one another for months instead of just a few weeks.

I managed to be one of the first people off the plane and sailed through customs. There was a security guard waiting for me.

“Ms. Andrews?” He asked.

I looked around nervously, “Yes.”

“Follow me please.” He instructed as he grabbed some of my luggage.

“Where are we going? I’m supposed to be meeting my boyfriend.”

“Yes, Mr. Carter is in one of our private lounges. He didn’t want to be bothered by fans. Follow me.” He explained.

He led me to a quiet place in the airport stopping just before a dark paneled door. “Have a nice day.” He said and left.

I knocked on the door and slowly opened it, “Nick?”

“Kielly?” Nick said.

I pushed the door open all the way and saw Nick. He his hair had been cut recently, my favorite way, same length all the way around, just below the top of his ears. He was wearing black dress pants, a grey dress shirt and a dark green jacket. He looked so handsome, he was also holding a bouquet of bright red roses.

I walked over to him and ran my hand through his hair, “Nick, you look so handsome. I’ve missed you.”

Nick handed me the roses, kissed the tip of my nose and wrapped his arms around me. “It feels so nice to hold you again.” He whispered against my ear. We pulled back at the same time, silently coming back together for a kiss.

We eventually made it to the stadium where they guys were performing. It was a great reunion with the guys. It had been months since I saw them last.

The show that night was fabulous. Nick seemed to have a little more energy for this one. When the show was over we had to leave right away for the next city. They were doing two shows there, so we would have a little more time to rest.

Since there was going to be ten of us eventually, the guys had rented another bus. Brian, Leighanne, AJ and Amanda would be on one, while Tara, Kevin, Michelle, Howie, Nick and I would be on the other. For now though, we were all on one bus. Which made for cozy quarters.

My first night, after the show, we had to leave right away so we all jumped on the bus. Since the guys were a little high from the show, we just sat around talking.

Since my day had been longer than the others, it wasn’t long before I was falling asleep. I had snuggled on the small couch between Nick and Kevin. My head was on Nick’s lap, while my legs were on Kevin’s lap. Nick was softly stroking my hair.

“Nick, I think you need to get your girlfriend to bed.” Brian laughed.

“I think so. Come on Kie, let’s go.” He said helping me up

“I’m not tired. I don’t wanna go to bed.” I whined.

“Too bad,” Nick started, he picked me up and carried me back to the bed we were going to share. “It’s been a long day for you. Sleep.” He put me down so I could crawl into the bunk.

Looking around at how much room we didn’t have, I yawned. “It’s gonna be cozy in here. When are you coming to bed?”

“Ill be in, in a bit. Try and get comfortable.” Nick suggested kissing me good night. He walked away and before I could get comfortable, I was asleep.

When I woke the next morning, Nick was lying beside me, his blonde hair framing his face. His one arm was draped across my stomach, it seemed to be a favorite place of his. I was fast asleep when he came to bed, so I didn’t know how long he had been sleeping. I reached over and brushed a lock of hair from his face.

“Hmmm …” He groaned as he rolled over to face me. It took him a minute, but he eventually opened his eyes, smiling when he saw me. “This I could get used to.” He said sleepily pulling me close.

“I all ready have.” I whispered, “Good morning, how did you sleep?”

“Wonderful since I knew you were here.” Nick replied.

We both scrambled out of bed and made our way out to the front of the bus. Brian, Leighanne and Howie were all ready there. “Morning all.” I said.

We hung around waiting for everyone else to get up and to make it to our next city Tara and Michelle were joining us that afternoon, I couldn’t wait.

Over the next couple of weeks, that’s how things went. Driving all around the country, sleeping whenever we could, shopping while the guys were at rehearsal, enjoying the show every night and then sometimes jumping on the bus to head to the next city.

I had decided the time had come for Nick and I. Two years was a long time to wait. Nick had been more than patient with me and admittedly it was getting harder to turn him away. About the time I decided this, we were arriving in California. We were gonna be in Los Angeles for a week. It was perfect, I had let the other girls in on what I had decided and were helping me plan something special for Nick.

Our first night in LA, Kevin surprised us all by taking Tara on stage and proposing to her. She of course said yes. That night after the show we all partied in celebration. We were all up extremely late that night, it was a good thing that there was no show the next day. The guys would have been exhausted. They did however have some promo stuff to do. They asked us girls if we wanted to go with them, but this was the night that I was hoping Nick and I would get closer.

After they had left I turned to the others, “So girls, where do we start?” I asked.

“First of all, we need to clean Nick’s room. Knowing Nick the way I do, it is probably a disaster.” Leighanne laughed.

Tara put her arm around my shoulders, “But Leigh, he has Kie with her now. He can’t keep it that messy.”

I threw my head back, laughing, “Are you kidding? He doesn’t care. We are sleeping in the same bed, he doesn’t care what I see.” After I said it, I realized how it sounded. I looked at the others and we all broke into hysterics.

We went up to the room that Nick and I shared and spent the next hour cleaning it. We re-made the bed with the hunter green silk sheets that I had bought, making sure that the sheets were folded just right. While Tara and Michelle were doing that, Amanda was making arrangements for our dinner at the beach. Since Nick was so passionate about it I knew that I had to add that into our evening.

Leighanne was arranging the flowers and the candles, placing flower petals on the bed and on the floor. I was re-doing my hair making sure that it was perfect. I wouldn’t settle for anything less.

Just as were almost done, the guys returned. I panicked a little because they were early. Tara jumped in front of the door so that they couldn’t get in.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Nick asked as he tried to push the door open.

“Nick what are you guys doing back all ready?” Tara demanded.

“We finished early hon, what’s going on? Why won’t you let us in?” Kevin questioned.

“Hold on a second.” She said and closed the door tight, making sure that the lock was in place. She walked over to me and whispered, “Why don’t we let Kev in on what is happening? That way he can keep Nick busy while we finish.” I thought for a minute and then nodded my head. We needed some one to keep Nick away. Tara went back to the door and opened it. “Kev, sweetie, can you come here please.” She pulled on Kevin’s jacket and yanked him into the room slamming the door so that no one else could see what was going on.

“Come on Tara, let me in.” Nick pleaded through the door.

“No!” She yelled back and turned to Kevin, “Okay, hon, this is the scoop. As you can tell, we are setting a mood here. Kie has decided that she wants to get romantic with Nick. We,” She said gesturing her arm around to the others, “Are helping. They are going to have dinner on the beach for starters and then well, whatever. So you want to help?”

Kevin grinned at me, “Nicky’s gonna get lucky, Nicky’s gonna get lucky.” He ducked the pillows that were thrown at him. “I would love to help. What can I do?”

“Bring Nick to Malibu beach at seven. That’s it. And don’t let him in this room.” Leighanne instructed.

Kevin stood up and saluted the five of us, “You got it. See you at seven.” He kissed Tara goodbye and left.

“Kev, what’s going on? Why can’t I go into my room?” Nick demanded.

“Frack, come walk with me.” Kevin replied placing his arm around Nick’s shoulder.

The five of us finished getting the hotel room together and then left to meet the caterers at the beach. By the time we got out to Malibu, I was starting to get nervous. The caterers were all ready setting up. Michelle, Leighanne and Amanda left after promising to make sure that they would keep an eye out for Nick and I. When they saw us approach they were going to run up to the room and light the candles. Tara was gonna stay with me until Kevin arrived with Nick.

The time flew by, Tara and I sat at the table and talked while we waited for Kevin and Nick. The sun was just starting to set when I saw them approaching.
