NINTENDO ANYONE? Chapter 5 None of us knew what was going to happen the next day with the guys. I had told Nick that he could come any time to take me to the airport. It would be nice to spend a few minutes alone with him. Maybe we could finish our talk from the night before. If he admitted to me first that he loved me, I may tell him how I felt. Maybe. I was woken up the following morning with a light knocking on my door. Since it had been late when I got to bed, I was not happy. I had forgotten that I told Nick he could come at any time. I had tossed and turned all night so when I heard the knocking at my door I was not thrilled. I stumbled over to the door and swung it open. “What?” I asked rudely, still half asleep. “Good morning to you to, Kielly.” Nick replied giving me a kiss on the cheek and walking past me. “Nick, what do you want?” I crawled back into bed and tried to go back to sleep. Nick had other things on his mind. “Kielly, you told me to come get you. I thought that we could have some time alone this morning.” Nick said as he crawled into bed beside me. He waited for a minute and when I didn’t respond to him he reached over and started to tickle me. I screamed, partly from being startled, partly from Nick’s touch and well he was tickling me. I wiggled about in bed trying to get away from Nick, but since he was so tall, he could reach me with ease. I jumped up and quickly sat on Nick, I managed to pin Nick’s arms under my knees. I flipped my head up, aware that I probably looked like hell. “All-right Mr. Carter. You have succeeded in waking me up.” I looked over at the clock, “I have had exactly four hours of sleep. I have not had my shower yet, I look like hell froze over. What you have planned for us this morning had better be good.” I finished and waited for Nick to answer. Nick just smiled at me, “First of all Kielly, that’s your own fault that you only had four hours of sleep. What were you doing after we left?” “That’s none of your business.” I stated. “Fine. Secondly, you could be nothing but beautiful to me. And finally, I am bringing you breakfast in bed.” He announced. He pushed me back, surprising me. He was incredibly strong. I fell back into bed, my heart racing a mile a minute. Nick went back to the door and opened it, reaching for a cart. “I have prepared for you the best breakfast that you will ever have.” Nick announced bringing the cart closer to the bed. Remembering what he said to me the night we met, I looked at him curiously, “You prepared?” Nick smiled and his cheeks went a deep red, “Well okay, the guys and I bought it. But I arranged it on the plate.” He added quickly. I threw my head back and laughed, “Okay, I will give credit where it is due. What have you got for me Nick?” Nick had arranged on my plate, eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. On a another plate there was a couple of Belgian waffles with strawberries. There was orange juice and milk in glasses still on the cart and a fresh red rose in a vase. “Nick, this looks so good. There is only one thing wrong with it.” I started. Nick looked crushed as he looked at me and then the plate trying to find out what was wrong with it. I placed my hand over his, “It’s nothing bad, I just don’t like eggs.” Nick breathed a sigh of relief, “Oh. Well, I’ll eat those then.” he said. Nick and I ate in silence. There was a plate for Nick as well, so I didn’t eat alone. There was so much that I wanted to say to Nick. I wanted to tell him that I loved him, but what was the point if we could only be friends? Tara and Michelle told me the night before that they would help me, make it possible for me and Nick to be together, but I just didn’t see it happening. There was no way that I was going to be able to live the life of a music stars girlfriend. Nick interrupted my thoughts. “Kielly, what are you thinking about? You looked so serious there for a minute.” “Nothing important. What else do you guys have planned for today? We don’t have much time for anything exciting.” I said changing the subject. “This is about it. By the time that you get showered and packed, it will be time to take you to the airport. We still have the limo from last night, so we will all go together.” Nick explained as he took my empty tray away. I was a little disappointed that I wasn’t going to get another chance to be alone with Nick, but it was only three months until I would see him in Toronto. I stretched, “Well, that was fabulous. You went to a lot of hard work I am sure. But if you will excuse me, I am going to jump in the shower. I won’t be long.” I jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom. These past three days had been magical. There was no denying that I was in love with Nick. I knew that Brian was right and that Nick was in love with me. It broke my heart that we couldn’t be together. I couldn’t help but wonder if Nick felt the same things that I did. The hot water ran over me as all these thoughts ran through my head, again. It seemed that I had been thinking of the same things since I met Nick. Was there ever going to be a solution? I quickly went through my routine and got out of the shower. Within in minutes I was ready. I opened the door and started to get all of my bathroom stuff together. “So Nick are you excited about the start of the tour?” I asked. There was no response. I peeked around the corner and saw that Nick had fallen asleep. I stood at the foot of the bed and just watched him. I smiled as I saw his chest rise and fall with each breath. He looked so angelic, his blonde hair framing his face. How could someone not be in love with that face? My new feelings for Nick over came me. I carefully crawled onto the bed and up to his face. My lips were inches from his, I lightly brushed my lips over Nick’s. They were so soft. Just as I was pulling away, Nick opened his eyes. I sat there embarrassed at having been caught kissing him secretly. Nick didn’t say a word, he just pulled me over on top of him and took me in his arms. Our lips met again, this time neither one of us pulling away. We explored each other, committing it all to memory. I was going to remember every thing that I could about Nick. It was going to be a long time before we saw each other again. When Nick’s excitement became apparent, I pulled back. I wasn’t ready for this. “I’m sorry Nick, but we better stop.” I whispered walking to the window. “Yeah.” Nick said hoarsely. “This isn’t the time nor the place for it.” He admitted and crossed the room to stand beside me. After a minute of silence he spoke, “Kielly what are we going to do about this?” I knew what he was asking but I decided to play dumb anyway, “Do about what?” Nick turned to me and forced me to look at him, “Kielly, I don’t know how it happened or why it happened, but I fell in love with you over the past three days.” I stood in front of Nick in shock. I knew that. I just didn’t know that Nick would tell me in such a way. I never knew that Nick was so forceful. “Nick, I ...” I started. Nick silenced me with another kiss. He kissed me with a vengeance. His arms wrapped around me, exploring everything that he could. My own arms were wrapped around his body tighter than I thought I could manage. Before I knew what was going on, Nick had picked me up easily and walked back over to the bed. We kissed each other, like we had never kissed another person before. I had never done this before, these kind of intense feelings were new to me. I had never had a relationship like this. Nick pulled my shirt over my head and I followed his lead and pulled his off as well, it was electrifying to feel his skin on mine. Just as I was reaching for his pants, there was a knock on the door. “Kie, let’s go. Our plane leaves in three hours!” Michelle yelled through the door. Nick rolled off of me, breathing heavily. “Shit.” he mumbled. I was silent as I pulled my shirt back on and fixed my hair. I took my bags to the door and opened it as Nick pulled himself together. “Hey, I was just coming to get you guys. I was beginning to think that you got side tracked.” I laughed trying to hide my frustration. Michelle, Tara, Kevin and Howie looked at me with question. Before they could ask any questions, Nick walked over to the door with my luggage and out into the hallway. “Let’s go guys. We wouldn’t want the plane to leave without them.” Nick and I were silent as we checked out of the hotel and got into the limo. Once we were seated, Nick reached for my hand and held it tightly. I held on just as tight. Now that he had admitted to me that he loved me, I didn’t want to let go. The guys threw their weight around at the airport and managed to get us checked in and were able to sit in a lounge until we had to board. They also had us bumped up to first class. “So you guys are going to come to Toronto right?” Howie asked Michelle. She nodded her head as Howie took her hand. “We will. Even if we have to hitch a ride.” “Don’t be that drastic. If you guys need airfare, you call. We will get you there.” Kevin said looking at Tara. “That’s right. We want you to be there. The next three months are going to be hell. I think we are all going to break AJ’s phone records.” Howie laughed. Nick and I never said a word. We waited for about an hour and then we had to say goodbye to the guys. Luckily, since we were with celebrities, we were allowed on the plane first and we had a little time alone with the guys. Tara and Michelle both cried openly. I held it all back. I didn’t know what to say to Nick. Just as the stewardess was coming over to tell us the guys had to leave, I looked at Nick. Those blue eyes, once again, hit me. I threw myself into Nick’s arms. I refused to cry. “I love you too Nick.” I whispered. Nick held me tight and kissed me lightly. “We will talk about this. I can’t leave this like this.” Nick said to me. All I could do was nod my head. After the guys left, I broke down. I was so mad at myself for crying over Nick, that I wouldn’t talk with Tara and Michelle until we were almost home. My mom picked us up at the airport and asked how our trip was. Tara and Michelle filled her in on everything, she was very happy that we met the Backstreet Boys. She knew that they were my favorite group. I didn’t tell her that I had fallen in love with Nick. I moped around the house for the next week. I didn’t hear from Nick at all. I was kind of hoping in the back of my mind that he would call me and we would talk about us. But it never happened. I was just getting back from a shopping trip when my phone started to ring. I ran through the house, hoping that it was Nick. “Hello?” “Kielly?” Nick asked. My heart dropped to the bottom of my stomach at the sound of his voice. “Nick.” I whispered. “How are you?” “I’m fine. I miss you.” I decided to be the first brave one and admit it. “I miss you too. I’m sorry I didn’t call earlier, but Fatima has been an absolute bear over the past week. There were a few glitches with some of the dance steps. She is working us from early morning to late at night. I fall into bed when I walk through the door.” Nick explained. “That’s okay. I figured that you were busy with the tour or something.” I sat down on my bed and crossed my legs. “How are things going otherwise?” As Nick started to tell me how the tour was coming along, I listened to just the sound of his voice. We went back and forth just talking for about an hour when the doorbell rang. “Nick, I should go, there is someone at the door.” I said not really wanting to hang up, who knew when I was going to be able to talk to him again. “No, no, take me with you.” He said. I was on a cordless phone, I shrugged my shoulders, “Okay, come on.” I laughed. I ran down the stairs and opened the door to see a deliveryman standing before me with a gold box. “Hi there, I’m looking for Kielly Andrews.” He said. “I’m Kielly.” I answered. He handed me the gold box and passed me a clipboard. I signed my name with a flourish and passed it back to him. As he was about to leave I called out to him, “Oh wait, a tip.” He held up his hand and smiled, “No need. It’s taken care of. Have a good evening.” I shut the door and took the box to the kitchen, “Gee Nick, there was a delivery man at my door with a gold box. Any idea what it may be?” “Not a clue, why don’t you open it and find out.” Nick said slyly. “Good idea. I knew that there was a reason why I had you around.” I joked as I opened the box. Inside were a dozen bright red roses. “Oh Nick they are beautiful.” “What are they? Who are they from? I want to know who is sending my girlfriend flowers?” He demanded trying to sound as though he had nothing to do with it. My heart skipped a beat as I heard him calling me his girlfriend. I looked for a card and once I found it, I opened it and saw Nick’s handwriting. Kielly: Just a little gift for you to remember me. Can’t wait to see you in Toronto. Love Nick “You sneak. That’s why you called now, you knew that they were going to be delivered. But they won’t last until I leave to see you in Toronto.” I said. “Keep looking, there should be another smaller box inside.” Nick instructed. I dug around a little until I found a smaller black box. It was a ring box, I got a little scared, why was he sending me a ring? I opened it and saw that he had bought the ring that I had found at the Market when we were in Florida. “Nick.” I breathed. “You found it?” He asked. Tears sprang to my eyes, threatening to spill over. I slipped the ring on my finger. It was a perfect fit. “It’s just as beautiful as I remember.” “Not as beautiful as you.” Nick replied. “Does it fit?” “Perfectly.” I almost added ‘just like us’, but I kept that to myself. “Thank you, but you know that you didn’t have to do this.” “Yes I did.” He started. There was some muffling and Nick yelled away from the phone, “Okay, B-Rok, just let me say goodbye to Kielly.” Back to me he said, “Kielly, I have to go. Looks like it is time for another torture session with Fatima.” Nick laughed. “Have fun.” I started. “I love you Kielly. I’ll call you again in a couple of days.” Nick said. “I love you to Nick. And thank you again for the flowers and the ring.” I finished and we hung up the phone. I called Michelle and Tara and told them what Nick had done. They had their own stories of what Howie and Kevin had done for them since we had gotten back. We decided to get together the following day for a shopping spree and try to find something to wear to the Toronto concert. |
