OF ALL THE CAMPSITES, IN ALL THE WORLD Chapter 2 The guys finished cleaning everything about half an hour later. They came to where we were and sat down. “So, we are fed, dishes are done, what is there to do now?” Nick asked as he sat beside Hani and reached for her hand. Everyone looked at me. “What?” “This is your country, what do we do now?” AJ questioned. He had taken his seat beside Ally, his arm falling across the back of her chair. I looked at my watch, it was almost eight o’clock. “Well it is too late to go for another hike.” I looked from Hani to Ally, “We brought some cards and what not, but I am sure that you guys don’t wanna play cards.” I shrugged my shoulders, “What do you guys want to do?” We all sat in silence as we tried to think of something. “I’ve got it.” Ally said. “A game that is almost as old as we are.” She looked around the group with mischief in her eyes. “What’s that, spin the bottle?” I laughed. “Almost, but not quite.” Ally looked around at all of us. “Truth or dare.” “I’m game.” Howie, Nick, Hani, AJ and myself all said at once. Kevin and Brian looked a little unsure. “I don’t know.” Brian started. “Aww come on guys, it will be fun.” AJ assured them. I turned to Kevin, then to Brian who was sitting on my right. “Yeah, we will make some rules.” “What kind of rules?” Kevin asked. “Well, like whatever Hani, Ally and I learn will go no farther than this camp site. We know how hard you guys have worked to keep you private lives private. We don’t want to ruin that.” I explained. Brian and Kevin looked at each other again and both nodded their heads. “Yeah!” I cried happily reaching for Kevin’s hand. “Ally, it was your idea, why don’t you go first.” “Okay, let’s see who should I pick on? Has to be one of the guys.” Ally mumbled as she played with her bottom lip. She raised a finger in the air, “I know,” She turned to AJ, “Gotta be you.” “Give me what you got.” AJ announced. Ally smiled as though she wanted to say something, but then thought better of it. “Okay, give me a minute to figure this one out.” She sat quietly, looking at the ground, AJ had reached over and was lightly rubbing her back. “Truth or dare?” “Truth.” AJ answered. “Oh good. If you could bring back your father, to be around in your childhood, would you?” “Oooh.” I whispered. I looked at Ally and winked, “You’re going for the good stuff.” “Why not?” She turned to AJ, “So?” “You know, I don’t think I would. As much as I missed not having a dad around, I liked being raised by my mom and grandmother. It gave me a better sense of what women need and want and what they expect out of me. It would have been nice to have a dad around for things like sports and what not, but I can’t replace what I have been given by my mom and grandma.” AJ explained. “This is going to be an interesting game.” Hani said from her side of the fire. AJ sat up straight and rubbed his hands together. “My turn, who is going to be my victim?” He cackled as he looked around the circle. His eyes stopping on Hani, “Hani, what’s it gonna be truth or dare?” Hani looked a little unsure of which way she should go, “What the heck, let’s go with dare?” “All right Hani, I dare you to kiss whoever I put in front of you and you have to tell me who it is."” AJ said. Hani jumped up from her seat and smoothed her sweats, “You got it.” “Sydney, you wanna cover her eyes so that she can’t peek?” “You bet.” I walked over to Hani and stood behind her placing my hands over her eyes. AJ motioned for Howie to come over. Howie got up and walked quietly over to Hani. He didn’t touch her, he leaned in close and placed his lips on hers, it took a minute before they got into anything serious. But once they did, you could see the effect that it was having on both of them. I looked over at Nick and winked, letting him know that he had nothing to worry about. A couple of minutes after they started, Howie backed away and quickly went to sit down. Once he was seated, I removed my hands and went back to my seat. “So Hani, who do you think it was?” AJ asked as he too sat down. Hani looked around the circle, she had grabbed a hold of Nick’s hand when she reached her chair, “Well, I know that it wasn’t Nick or AJ or Sydney. I hope it wasn’t Sydney or Ally. So that leaves Kevin, Brian and Howie. And since there was a mustache that would count out Brian. So I would have to say that it was either Kevin or Howie.” She grew quiet as she weighed the options. “Howie.” AJ looked at her with amazement, “How did you know that?” Hani shrugged her shoulders, “Lucky guess.” She sat back in her chair and looked at all of us, “Anyone want to volunteer?” When no one spoke, she gazed at Brian, “Brian, what’s it gonna be, truth or dare?” “Uhm ,,. Truth I guess.” He whispered. “Okay, truth … for Brian … truth?” She mumbled as she thought of something. “Truth for Brian?” She said again. “I got it. If you had the chance to go back and stop Samantha from putting out her book, how would you do it?” “You guys really play dirty.” Brian whispered as he shook his head. But the smile on his face showed that he was having fun. “I don’t know. I think maybe I would go and confront her. Find out why she felt that she had to do this to me. To us.” He said as he pointed at the guys. “Then I would get our lawyers together and sue her back stabbing little butt off.” Everyone laughed. Brian looked around the group and stopped on Ally, “What’s your choice, truth or dare?” “Uhm … I’m with you truth.” Ally said bravely. “I love those ones. Okay, truth … what should we make Ally confess to?” Brian rambled on as he thought of something. “It has to have something to do with AJ.” Brian sat in silence for a few more minutes, “Ahh, of all the things that you know about AJ, what do you love the most and what would you change?” “Wow. Uhm … What I admire the most is that he says what is on his mind. He’s not afraid of what people think of him. What you see is what you get and if you don’t like it, too bad.” Ally answered. She turned to AJ and smiled, he picked up her hand and lightly kissed it. “Now on the other hand, I would change his hair color. I love him as a blonde.” She laughed. “Your wish is my command.” He whispered. “Okay, well I have had a turn, Nick, why don’t you choose someone.” Ally suggested. “Okay.” Nick sat up in his chair and rubbed his hands together. “Howie my man, what’s it gonna be? Truth or Dare?” “Coming from you, it’s gotta be dare.” Howie laughed. “I was hoping you would say that. All right, Howie, I dare you to take a swim in the lake.” Nick started, he paused just long enough to let Howie know that he wasn’t going to like the next part, “Naked.” Howie stared in disbelief at Nick a second. “That’s gonna be cold.” He muttered. “You got it Nicky.” We grabbed a few flashlights and followed Howie and Nick as they made their way to the lake. Howie had grabbed a towel and was just starting to take his clothes off, he got as far as his shorts and then wrapped his towel around his waist. He turned around and faced the lake, his shorts came off and then we saw his boxers follow. “Show us some skin Howie!” Brian called from behind him. “You got it!” Howie replied, he ripped the towel off and dove into the lake. Screaming the whole way. He swam about ten yards out, turned around and then swam back. Just before shore he asked for his towel, which I had picked up. “This one right here?” I asked innocently as I dangled it just out of reach. “Please Sydney, the water is very cold.” He begged. “Is it? How cold is it Howie?” I questioned. “Extremely, now please throw me the towel.” “Are you gonna catch it?” I teased. “Yes.” I tossed the towel up in the air, as high as I could get it. Causing Howie to have to jump for it, right out of the water. Ally, Hani and I whistled and clapped as Howie wrapped the towel around his waist. When he was standing just before us, he bent over to bow and quickly grabbed his clothes. He ran back to the campsite and was still inside the tent when the rest of us returned. We sat around the fire and waited for Howie to come back out. He joined us a minute later and smiled at me across the fire, “Revenge is sweet, Sydney. Truth or Dare?” “Truth of course, the water in the lake is obviously too cold.” I laughed. “All right, truth, this has to be good and revealing. It would only be fair.” Howie said as he stared into the fire. He sat up suddenly, “I think I have it. Are you a virgin? And if you aren’t would you take back how it happened?” The one thing that I never wanted to talk about what how I lost my virginity. My family were the only people in the world that knew what happened to me. I sat quietly in front of everyone, not saying a word, just staring into the fire, watching the flames dance around in the pit. I didn’t realize it, but when I looked back up, there were tears streaming down my face. Kevin placed a hand on my back and rubbed gently. Howie was instantly sorry, “If it is too hard to talk about we can skip it. I will think of something else.” I shook my head, “No, it’s okay Howie. I just … don’t talk about this often. I was sixteen. There was this guy in high school that I was devoted to. The sun rose and set on this guy. He was everything that I had always wanted, blonde hair, blue eyes, funny, honest. Or so I thought. We had some of the same friends so we started hanging out together, one thing led to another and before we knew it we were dating. I told him right off the bat that I wouldn’t sleep with him right away. I wanted to wait and make sure that we were going to be together and it wasn’t just a two-week fling. I respected myself too much.” I paused as I remembered what had happened. “You don’t have to go on, it’s okay.” Kevin whispered, I shook my head again, “He had been changing over the last few weeks, weird things. Wanting to know exactly where I was at all times. We got into a huge fight two days before, he was saying things like I was cheating on him, sleeping with other guys and just being crazy. I screamed back at him and told him to leave my house and never come back. We were through.” I sat back in my chair, my eyes never leaving the fire. “Are you sure you can do this?” Hani asked. She had moved from her seat beside Nick and was now kneeling in front of me. “I can do this.” I assured them all. Ally came to my side, “Why didn’t you ever tell me and Hani this?” “It’s not exactly something that comes up in casual conversation.” I smiled at them through the tears that had started to fall again. “You don’t have to finish. It’s okay.” Brian whispered from behind me. “No, I’m okay.” I whispered. I looked around at all the guys. In just the few short hours we had spent together, I knew that I could trust these guys. It was obvious that what they showed their fans was the real them. “He left and the next day at school he was really nice to me when we met in the halls. He knew that my parents were going out of town that weekend. They were taking their annual trip to Florida. He was hoping that I would let him spend the weekend with me. That was how the fight had started and then everything snowballed."” I paused as I accepted the bottle of water from AJ. "Thanks. Anyway, nothing happened on Friday. I had some friends over and we stayed up all night talking and what not. Typical girls. Saturday I was alone. It was about two in the morning when I heard someone downstairs. I was terrified. I mean I was sixteen, I had no one in the house to protect me.” “Was it that guy?” Kevin asked from my side. He held onto my hand tightly as I kept my eyes on the fire. “I was too scared to move and see who it was. I was used to my parents being away, they always went away around the same time. I kept a light on in the living room and really just stayed in the living room watching TV or listening to music. I heard him come up the stairs, in a few steps he made it to my room. I saw his shadowy figure and instantly knew I was in trouble. I tried to make it seem as though I was still sleeping, but that didn’t stop him.” I stopped talking and shivered as I remembered what happened. Kevin’s hand squeezed mine tighter while Brian placed both his hands on my shoulders and squeezed tightly. “He came over to me and I could smell that he was drunk. He sometimes went a little overboard, but who didn’t when they were sixteen?” “Don’t make excuses for him Sydney.” Allyson stated. My eyes flew over to her, as though I was a deer caught in the headlights of a car. I had forgotten that there were other people around me. “I know. He sat down on the bed beside me. He started talking, I don’t know if he knew I was awake or he was trying to wake me. He started saying that he really loved me and he wanted to be with me. He never meant to accuse me of the things that he did. I couldn’t move. I lay perfectly still, trying to keep calm, but it wasn’t working. The next thing I knew he was lying beside me, I turned to him and asked him what he was doing. He said he was just trying to apologize for our fight. I told him that there was nothing to apologize for, we had grown apart and that was the end of it. Then he got mad. The alcohol took over.” I whispered. “That doesn’t make what he did right.” Hani said from in front of me. I didn’t really hear her, when I started thinking about what Chuck did to me that night, I usually zoned everyone out. My eyes went back to the fire, “He reached for me, I slid over to the other side of the bed, he kept coming after me. I ran out of the room and into my parents’ room, they had a lock on the door. That didn’t stop him, he broke the door down and grabbed for me. He caught the back of my nightgown and threw me on the bed. I never knew he was so strong. He tore my nightgown off and when I wouldn’t stop begging him to stop, he started to hit me. Just in the stomach and what not at first, to knock the wind out of me, but then when it didn’t stop me, he hit me in the face.” I felt Kevin and Brian tense up as though they wanted to find him and get back at him for doing that. “He screamed at me that I had teased the wrong guy one too many times. That was when he …” I trailed off, I never could finish that sentence. “You don’t have to finish,” Howie said. “I just hope that he paid for what he did.” I looked up at Howie with tears running down my face, “Not as much as what he should have. Since he was a minor, he didn’t have to do jail time, just some time in a juvy hall and community service. I never went back to that school and I haven’t had a sexual relationship since.” I explained. Everyone went back to their seats, quiet, reflecting on what I had said. Kevin pulled me over to him and sat me on his lap, hugging me tightly. We all sat in silence for a few minutes before anyone spoke. And then it was Howie that did. “Sydney, I’m sorry I brought it up. You really didn’t have to say anything.” He said quietly. I shook my head, “It’s okay Howie. Although I don’t talk about it much, when I do, it helps to deal with it. But to answer your questions, I am not a virgin and I would do anything in the world to be able to change it.” I sat up straight on Kevin’s knee, “Now the mood needs to be lightened.” I looked at Nick, “What’s it going to be Nick. Truth or Dare?” “Uhm … I think we will go with truth.” He said with confidence. “You guys are all wimps. Howie was the only one who took a dare.” I laughed. Howie sat up, “Just goes to show who the real man is.” He joked. “In your dreams Dorough.” Kevin chuckled. “All right then, Nick, truth …” I trailed off as I thought of a truth question for Nick. I racked my brain for all the information that I knew on Nick. It had to be something that would be helpful to Hani, but I didn’t want to embarrass Nick. Then I thought what the hell, we had all become friends here. “Nick, if you were going to plan a romantic evening with someone, oh let’s just go out on a limb and say Hani, what would you do?” Everyone grinned. “You know that I don’t have a romantic bone in my body right?” Nick asked. “I find that hard to believe, Nick Carter, the most popular Backstreet Boy, must have a little romance in him.” I encouraged. Nick sat staring into the fire. He was thinking about it, his eyes focused on the flames that danced before him. “I think that I would do something with the beach. So we would probably be home in Florida. Maybe have a nice dinner on the beach, go for a walk, then go back to my place and talk, drink some wine. Let the evening take it’s own course.” He finished. “I am going to have to remember that.” Hani whispered. “All right, so I do have some romance in me. Now who is going to give Kevin his choice? We have all had a turn.” Nick pointed out. “I think it should be Ally. She started the whole thing.” AJ suggested. “Okay,” Ally said as she turned to Kevin, “What’s it gonna be, truth or dare?” “Let’s go with the flow, truth.” Kevin smiled. “Wimps, they are all wimps.” Ally chuckled as she shook her head. After a moment of silence, she raised her head and smiled, “The one thing that each of the guys that annoys you the most and if you could change one thing about each of the them, what would it be?” “Ally, you play dirty.” I stated. “Well, if they went for the dares we wouldn’t have to think of things like this.” She said in defense. We all sat waiting for Kevin to answer. “Well Kev?” Hani questioned. “Something that annoys me and what would I change?” Kevin stared off into the fire for a few minutes until he answered. “Well, since we have been together for so long there are many things. I mean, AJ, I sometimes wish that you would stick to one hair color. But that is one of the things that I love about you. You don’t care what others think. If you want to do it then that is good enough. What I would change about AJ? I think … I don’t know. Maybe if I could, get rid of some of those tattoos. I think you have a few too many.” Kevin smiled at AJ. “Have no fear Train, my man, no more are coming.” AJ assured him. “What about Nick?” Hani asked with curiosity. “What annoys me about Nick?” Kevin smile a little, “What doesn’t annoy me about Nick? No, I’m just kidding buddy. I think with Nick the one thing that annoys me the most is that he constantly has his eyes on a video game. He either has it hooked up to a TV so that none of us can watch regular TV or he has one in his hands so that we can’t carry on a conversation with him. Now what would I change about Nick? I think with Nick I would make it so that he talked more in interviews. He comes across as very quiet. He needs to speak up more.” “Thanks man, that was nice.” Nick said as he reached across to slap hands with Kevin. “Howie’s next.” Ally offered. “Howie. The one thing that annoys me is that he is almost always able to settle the little fights and what not that we have. I don’t know how he does it, but he has this ability to look on both sides and tell us all what we are doing wrong. It just gets under my skin sometimes. What would I change about him? Stop him from being so darn sweet. The girls just eat it up, sometimes they don’t even see the rest of us.” Kevin laughed. “It’s a gift, the Latin in me comes out when there are girls around.” Howie joked. “And finally cousin Brian.” I said. Kevin looked across the fire at Brian, “What annoys me about him, is that he has a hard time being serious. When need be. I know that is how he deals with things most of the time, but still it would be nice if he could just put the jokester aside and be serious. What would I change? Brian, what would I change about Brian? I don’t know.” He finished. “Oh come on, there has to be something.” I urged. “I think that it would have something to do with what annoys me. I would change him to be more serious when the need arises.” Kevin said. “All right then,” Brian stood up and walked over to Kevin. He slapped his hand and grinned, “Never gonna happen o’ wise cousin of mine.” Brian turned to us girls, “What’s next ladies?” I held up Kevin’s wrist and looked at his watch, “Holy, it’s after midnight!” “We have been up for almost 24 hours guys.” Howie declared. “What?” I asked. “We left Orlando this morning at about 2am.” Howie explained. “And you aren’t tired?” Hani questioned. “This is normal. Do you guys remember that show we did in Las Vegas after the Billboard Awards?” Nick started. They all nodded their heads. “We had to be in Vegas for the show at like noon, we had done a show the night before and left there right away, catching maybe an hour of sleep on the flight. We got to Vegas, did a whole bunch of press, did the Awards show, partied a little, because we had to. Then we had a show that next night. We got maybe another hour of sleep and then we had more press to do and then we had to fly out to Atlanta for the show. It was bad. We were so crazy that night.” “I would have loved to see the show.” I laughed. “Have any on you seen us in concert yet?” Brian asked. “Nope.” I replied. “No.” Hani said. “Once.” Ally finished. “One out of three ain’t bad.” AJ laughed. “How come you guys haven’t seen us yet?” Howie wondered. Hani and I looked at each other and smiled. Both of us had spent several hours on the internet to one another gripping about the fact that we hadn’t seen them yet. “Well guys, it is like this. In order for us to see you in concert, you have to actually come to our cities.” I said as politely as I could. “Oh boy, do you have any idea how many letters we got because of the Millennium tour?” Kevin put in. “I can imagine. But you wanna know what really ticks me off?” All the guys nodded their heads, “I have lost count how many interviews I have seen with you guys where you talk about your Canadian fans and how much they mean to you. If it hadn’t been for us, yadda, yadda, yadda. And all we get is three tour dates on the first tour and two on the second. Most of them in Ontario. What about the rest of Canada and what is so damn special about Ontario that they get all the dates?” I finished with a flourish of my hands. The guys all looked at Hani and Ally, “You started it.” They both said. “I don’t know why they only booked shows in Ontario. We don’t really have much say in the cities that we go to. The record company sets up the dates and then The Firm tells us where to be and gets us there.” Brian offered. “Doesn’t make us feel better.” I pouted. “Tell you what, our next tour starts in Florida in a few months. It hasn’t been announced yet so you will have to keep it quiet. Why don’t the three of you come for it. On us. We will fly you all down to Florida and you can stay with Brian, Howie and I at the house for a few days and then if you can, join us for the first couple of days of the tour.” Kevin explained. “Are you serious?” I asked in shock. “Absolutely.” He stated. “But Hani has to come from Prague. That is a lot of money.” I said. “Pffff.” The guys all brushed it off. “We really want you guys there.” Nick replied. “I don’t mind flying you here from Europe as long as you want to come.” He finished as he looked over at Hani with a certain glint in his eyes that told Hani he would do anything for her. “I want nothing more.” She whispered. “And you really are not that far away, it wouldn’t be much to get you to Florida. As long as you want to come.” AJ said shyly to Ally. “I wouldn’t want it any other way.” Ally confided. Kevin looked at me, still sitting on his lap. “And I would like nothing more than to see you again. If you want to see me that is.” I looked into Kevin’s eyes and knew that I would walk to the ends of the earth if he asked me to. “Wild horses couldn’t keep me away.” I confessed. We sat around the fire for another couple of hours, the guys were not even close to being tired. Us girls, however, were exhausted. We had been up early to get to the site and the emotional ride we had been on since finding out the Backstreet Boys were our camping mates was unbelievable. “Well guys, as much as I am enjoying your company, I really need to retire. I can turn into a real bitch if I don’t get at least four hours of sleep and I have a bad habit of getting up at 7 or 8 in the morning.” I said standing and stretching. “Yeah, we should all turn in so that we can have an early breakfast and then go do some more hiking.” AJ agreed as he stood. “Syd, what about that town that we were going to go to?” Ally asked me. “Banff?” “Yeah. How far away is that?” Hani questioned as she too stood up and stretched. “Uhm … a couple of hours.” I turned to the guys, “Have any of you been to Banff?” They all shook their heads no. “Well, you are in for a treat then. It is a beautiful town. I am sure that you won’t be recognized by a lot of people, mostly Asians are there.” I chuckled. “Sure. We will have some breakfast and then we can head out to Banff.” Kevin said as he put his arms around my waist. “But for now, goodnight. We will see you in the morning.” He whispered as he brought his lips to mine and kissed me goodnight. Hani, Ally and I walked over to our tent after we all said goodnight to the guys. Their tent was still on their site, so we would have some time to talk. With one last wave, we disappeared inside the tent. I fell to my knees on my sleeping bag. Hani flopped onto her bag, while Ally stretched out on hers. “You guys, this is unbelievable.” I said. “I am so glad that I came on this trip. I am falling in love with Nick all over. How is that possible?” Hani asked as she reached for her sweats that she was going to sleep in. “Because you are getting to know the real Nick Carter.” Ally announced as though it was the most natural thing in the world. We all looked at one another and dissolved into a fit of laughter. “You guys, what are we going to do about this?” I asked. Not wanting to be the rational one. “What do you mean? We let everything flow, with nature. Like the rivers.” Ally told me as she swung her arm around. We looked at each other again, and again, you could hear the giggles from our tent. “Quiet over in the peanut gallery.” We heard the guys yelling from their tent. This only made us laugh even harder. We settled down after a minute and just used the flashlight to talk by. “Can you believe this? Our camping mates are the Backstreet Boys. What are the chances that this could have actually happened?” Ally asked. “I don’t even want to think about it. This next week is going to be so much fun. I wonder when they are going back to Florida?” I wondered. “Well, if they are starting a new tour in a few months, I imagine that they can’t have too much time off. There are rehearsals and what not that they have to deal with.” Hani explained. “Yeah, but wouldn’t it be nice if I could get them to come back to the house with us when the week is over?” I wished. I rolled over onto my back and suddenly had the urge to go to the bathroom. “Where’s the flashlight? I need to pee.” I grabbed the light, reached for my shoes and undid the zipper to the tent. “Don’t let the sewer crawler get you!” Ally yelled after me. “Piss off.” I called back laughing. I walked around the edge of the site and saw where the bathrooms were. It was going to be a long walk by myself. I wasn’t afraid of the dark, I just preferred to be in daylight when I had to use a strange washroom. “You want an escort?” I heard from behind me. “AHHH.” I cried as I spun around and flashed the light on my follower ready to assault him. “It’s just me.” Kevin said. The light flashed across his green eyes, hitting me right in the heart. He reached for my hand and took the flashlight. “I was thinking the same thing as you. There was no way that I was gonna be able to hold it in all night. So when I saw that someone else was heading for the loo, I thought I would too.” He explained as we walked to the washroom. I decided this would be the time to find out how long the guys were here for. “Kevin, how long of a break do you guys have?” “We have to be back in Florida in three weeks, Fatima has an outrageous schedule for us.” He chuckled. We reached the outhouses and went our separate ways. As I did my thing, I tried to think of a way to ask him if they would be interested in coming back to Leduc with us. Nothing came. I finished up and went outside to wait for Kevin. He was actually waiting for me, he smiled at me as I walked out the door and reached for my hand. “What did you guys have planned after you left?” Kevin asked. “I’m not sure. Hani is here for a couple of weeks yet, Ally has to be back home in a week and a half. What about you guys?” That was about as subtle as I could get. “I don’t know. I wouldn’t mind sticking around here and getting to know you better.” He admitted. I stopped in my tracks. Kevin wanted to get to know me better. After everything that I had told him and that we had only been together for a day, he still wanted to get to know me. I was in shock. “Seriously?” I questioned. Kevin stood in front of me. “Absolutely. Why wouldn’t I?” I noticed that there was a picnic table near by, I walked over to it and sat down. Relieved when Kevin followed. “I don’t know. I just have always had a problem with believing that a guy like you would be interested in me. Ever since Chuck anyway.” I admitted quietly. Kevin sat beside me and reached for my hand. “A guy like me? What is so special about me that I wouldn’t be interested in a girl like you?” I laughed, “Well, you are Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys. People Magazine’s Sexiest Pop Star. Up until today, I never thought that I would get the opportunity to meet you. And now you tell me that you want to get to know me better. It is a lot for a girl like me to take in.” I finished as I looked up into his eyes. They were the color of green that made me melt. Green was one of my favorite colors, but the color that Kevin’s eyes were, was unbelievable. I wanted to be with him at any cost. No matter what I had to do. Kevin placed his hands on my face and pulled me to him. “Something happened to me today when I looked at your blue eyes. A small part of me, lit up. I want to discover the rest of that light and where it came from. You are the one that has to do that.” He whispered. He pulled me even closer as our eyes closed and our lips touched. At that point, if Kevin wanted to take me right then and there on the picnic table, I wouldn’t have objected. I wrapped my arms around his neck and let my hands run through his hair. As I kissed him back with everything that I had, my mind went in a hundred different directions. How could this be happening? After my experience with Chuck, I had been with few guys. There had only been one that I thought was serious. Was I in love with Kevin now? Would I know if I loved him at all? It was one thing to admire him from afar, I never knew that I would meet him and now here he was, holding me in his arms and kissing me, with such a passion that it scared me. I pulled back from Kevin. “Kevin, I have strong feelings for you too, but I think that they are more along the lines of admiration. I don’t know what they are.” I was quiet for a minute, “But I want to see what it is.” I finished with a whisper. “We will figure it out together.” He said back to me. He reached for my hand and helped me off the picnic table and together we walked back to the site. “Good night again. Sleep tight.” He laughed as he kissed me lightly on the cheek. I crawled back into the tent and chuckled when I saw that Ally and Hani were both sound asleep. I snuggled into my sleeping bag and closed my eyes. I spent the night dreaming about Kevin. As if I would have dreamt about anything else. The dream I had seemed so real. Kevin and I were in Florida, it took me a minute to realize that we were at a wedding, our wedding. Everything looked so beautiful. Kevin was wearing a tuxedo and the rest of the guys were behind him. All of them looking so handsome. I was crying as Kevin said his words to me. Then the next picture flashed into my head. Again it was Kevin and I, only this time we were in a vehicle and we were driving to a house. We pulled up and Kevin came over to help me out, then he went into the back seat and brought out a baby. Our baby. |
